End of the Year…A New Beginning
So as this year comes to an end, I have been very busy planting the seeds of my new journey for the next year, mainly, directing my first feature film. Been pretty quiet because of that, with most of my time going to script writing, and working jobs on the side to support the scriptwriting.
So after a seven year long stretch from inception to (current) completion, I can officially say I have completed my first feature script. So now the more interesting part comes in.
I sent off my script to a few trusted friends and peers, and received numerous amounts of feedback, some good, some critical. I take criticism very seriously, as those who know the attention to detail I put into my video or commercial work, can imagine how much of a critic I am with this script.
One thing I realize. I have been living with these characters for seven years. I know every inch of their back story and history in my mind, and one thing I have to be aware of is how to make sure that what I put on paper still makes sense to the reader and eventually the viewer of the film itself. This is the hard part for me, and the most challenging, as I have already rewritten my script approximately seven times. This last revision was the largest one, in which I changed about 80% from the last revision.
I am now charged with taking all of this in, and making sure that this script, especially the main character (it’s an indie character driven story) is alive and real. I don’t want to compromise my overall vision while doing it. I want this to be the best it can be before I even consider shooting it.
One this is certain, the script will be dope in the end, and I’m putting my heart and soul into it to make sure of it. 2012 will be the year.
